Few weeks ago I helped produce a cover song of Wim Soutaer‘s Allemaal for third year students of the Sastra Belanda of Universitas Indonesia. Recording was done in a 3 by 3 room to create a natural reverb.
The software used was Audacity, a free and open source digital audio editor. The vocals was done by multitrack recording, since there were four singers, through the microphone jack of a laptop. It gets worse. Because the audio cable was missing, the music track was analog-recorded with a microphone!
Post-production was mainly track-tuning to remove hiss and noise. Despite the recording difficulties, the final-mix was satisfactory.
I’d give it 3.5 out of five stars with a certain amount of toleration. 😀
